Watts Collaborative

Our History, Purpose, and Vision

Watts Collaborative began as Nan Watts Coaching in 2005. Over the last 20 years, Nan built a coaching practice that has included over 700 corporate executives and senior leaders from over 40 global organizations, non-profits, and start-ups.

Since 1999, Jim led global teams at ESI International, Learning Tree, and Korn Ferry in the design and delivery of customized project management development programs for his Fortune 100 clients.

In a world that is experiencing unpredictable, massive change in almost every aspect of our personal and professional lives, leaders are having to adapt quickly, and often under increased pressure and uncertainty. Paradigms are shifting and what might have worked a few years ago may no longer be the most effective way forward. The upside to all this disruption is that it has also opened opportunities for all of us to re-think how we lead, how we live, and what matters to us.

We created The Watts Collaborative to support senior leaders and executives who are seeking new opportunities for internal growth and development. Our extensive network of experienced practitioners have worked with every level of leader and have the expertise to meet you wherever you may be in your own journey.

We look forward to learning how you are being pulled to meet the opportunities you are seeking to explore.

Leadership Team

Nan Watts Founder / CEO Watts Collaborative

My approach to coaching is founded on the principle that effective leadership is cultivated from expanded self-awareness coupled with a comprehensive understanding of the broader ecosystems in which they operate.

As a coach, I specialize in working with senior leaders and executives who are challenging themselves to grow, adapt, and thrive in our world of constant change.

Prior to starting Nan Watts Coaching in 2005, I started two successful photography businesses, both of which continue to inform how I wanted to establish my coaching practice — now the camera is a wonderful metaphor. My training, tools, guiding principles are what I use to frame, capture and reflect back to my clients so they can see and hear themselves in that moment.

Certified by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) with nearly 20 years of experience, I support and partner with individual private clients, executives and senior leaders at global organizations, and CEOs and founders of start-ups.

I am the founder and principal of Venerable You, a human development firm with expertise in professional development, team and enterprise leadership, and Co-Active coaching.

Central to my work is a belief that leaders cannot solve the problems of today with the same thinking that was used to create them.  With over 15 years of experience in learning & development, co-active coaching, non-violent communication theory, and the practice of mindfulness-based techniques, my work focuses on expanding the leadership capacities that will help my clients thrive in uncertain and complex environments.

Prior to founding Venerable You, I worked with large multinational organizations and entrepreneurial startups as the Director of Leadership Practice for BTS, a global strategy consulting firm.

Certified by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) as both a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), the foundation of our work together will be my conviction that, with the right partnership, all human beings have within them the answers they seek.

Jim Watts Director - Business & Operations Watts Collaborative

With over 40 years of corporate experience — the last 25 years of which have been focused on creating global project management development programs for Fortune 100 clients — I have worked with senior leaders and executives from all business sectors to help them maximize their project cultures.

Behavioral change, individually and collectively, will only happen when organizations prioritize the development of their most precious asset - their people. However, development is not just a training or coaching event. It is a commitment by leadership, the teams, and all individuals involved to reinforce the behaviors that they seek to impact - and in alignment with organizational objectives.

Our mission at Watts Collaborative is to support the development of leaders who are being pulled by a vision of something greater… for themselves, their work, their passions… and perhaps for our world.

This mission is integrated in all of the ways we support our clients — via 1:1 Leadership Coaching, our Rising Leaders cohorts, and our Rooted in Change corporate partnerships.

We aim to work with people and organizations who also believe in creating positive change, and who feel that commitment deeply.
